Mandt Training

All staff Mandt training will be located at the NEW Parent Resource Center – Conference Room – Annex
Session times: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will probably use all of this time so please plan accordingly for childcare, etc.

We will be using the following Mandt Manual for 2016-2017.    Please print the Manual from this link: https://drive.google.com/a/ccps.us/file/d/0B0iHWpAhJHAGVW5xWlVpblJwajg/view?usp=sharing

This is a large document, but necessary for the training.
Please print your personal copy of the manual
(RECERTS)-If you review the new study guides, (re)certification classes will move much faster.
I will not be printing manuals for everyone at each recertification and/or full training.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact me.

The VA Department of Education – Supplemental
Report dated July 8, 2009 stated: Physical Restraint and Seclusion have been the subject of national meetings and reports, including a congressional hearing. The Caroline County School Division is fortunate to be one of 81 school divisions that provides training to reduce or eliminate the use of restraint and/or seclusion through training that provides positive behavioral supports/best practices. The Mandt System training is recognized as the most frequently cited program.

If I have omitted anyone for the new full training, please let me know as soon as possible.  Think of any alternative ed staff, ISS, administrators, one:one, coaches, assistants/aides or others who should have full training.
NEW training requires Part 1 and Part 2 for completion and takes 2 days. Recertification is required once a year and can be completed in one day.
More dates will be added/deleted as needed.
This course requires about 16 hours of training to become certified. (We may finish earlier by moving at a faster pace) It is important that everyone arrives on time.  I have tried to schedule in pairs/groups from each school so that the information can be reviewed between them.  If someone knows in advance that they cannot attend their scheduled session, notify me immediately.  I will try to let you know of the sessions in advance. In the event of inclement weather, we will follow the school division closing/late opening/early dismissal schedule and will reschedule what was missed.

Certification will only be given for the chapters that have been taught and tested successfully.

** NEW Participants: Please print and bring your class manual.
Wear comfortable clothes (no dresses/skirts) and tennis shoes.  Bring your lunch/snacks, since we will only have 30 minutes for lunch.  This is a very intensive training so we will have several breaks throughout the day.  Please put your manual in a 3-ring binder.  You may also want to bring highlighters, pencils and/or pens- (whatever you need to take notes, etc).
**RECERTS:  BRING YOUR MANUAL!!! This is a very fast-paced one day training.  We will be doing more review this year since you have a new manual format.  Questions have been re-arranged for the study guide and the tests.
Please COMPLETE and REVIEW the self-study guides so you will pass the tests.  We will be testing chapters 1,2,3,4, 6,7,8,9,10 and then the physical moves.    (ch 4 is a newly added chapter)
Please call if you have any questions.
Thank you!  Susan Gayle
