Family Fair – Saturday!!! March 11th

FREE Child Supervision while families attend sessions.

Charitable Fund Award

Commonwealth Community Trust (CCT) established the Charitable Fund Award to provide funds for equipment, medication, and/ or services to individuals with disabilities who demonstrate a financial need and reside in Virginia.  The maximum amount of the award per individual in 2017 is $1,000.  The application opens in April 2017.

Autism Conference in Caroline County, Saturday, May 14, 2016

Lori Frost, the developer of PECS, the Picture Exchange Communication System, is the keynote speaker at Autism:  Putting the Puzzle Together Across A Lifespan, the first annual conference of the Rappahannock Area Autism Council.  The conference will be held May 14, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. at the Caroline County Community Center, 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, VA, 22514.   Cost is $10 and includes lunch.  Register by linking to http://rappautismconf.eventbrite.com.

Frost will speak on “Teaching Critical Communication Skills.”  Other breakout sessions include Waivers and Waiver Reform, Employment, Financial Planning for Special Needs, Early Intervention Services, Transitioning from PECS to Augmentative Communication Devices, IEP Advocacy, and STEP-VA, a unique arts program for children with disabilities. The closing keynote speaker is Justin George, a young adult on the spectrum who is putting the puzzle together.  George attended college, is working, and is setting goals to live independently.
